The Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund (VVAF), as part of its ongoing service to veterans and their families, provides funding in the form of grants to projects sponsored, supported or endorsed by the National Board of Directors, State Councils, and Chapters of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA). VVAF gives priority to matching fund projects. VVAF provides funding solely for scientific, charitable, and educational purposes.
Grants are scheduled for a one (1) year period and are considered for "one time or start up projects". Grant requests in excess of $10,000 are discouraged. Please read these instructions carefully. This Application is subject to change on an annual basis, usually in January of each year.
Deadline for submission is March 31, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- When submitting a proposal for funding, you
must download and complete the attached Grant
Proposal Cover Sheet and the Grant
Proposal Outline as indicated. (Note:
You must have Adobe Reader to view Cover Sheet and Outline.)

- Grant Proposal Cover Sheet & Grant Proposal Outline
- You must file a complete proposal, meeting the requirements stated on the Grant Proposal Cover Sheet and the Grant Proposal Outline, regardless of whether you have received a grant in the past. Previous award or rejection of a grant proposal should not be considered as automatic approval or rejection of a new submission.
- The postmark on the submission is used to determine the date of submission. It is not necessary to use priority mailing methods provided the submission is postmarked on or before March 31, 2008.
- Applicants will be notified in writing of a decision within 12-16 weeks following the deadline for submission. Applicants should plan accordingly.
- All materials submitted become the property of VVAF.
- Recipients of VVAF grants agree to submit a 250 - 500 word narrative explaining the use of the funds received, how did the grant impact on operations. The narrative should be suitable for publication in The VVA Veteran, annual reports or similar publications. This report should be accompanied with one to three photographs of the activities involved in the purpose of the grant. All grants are subject to audit by VVAF at any time. Unless otherwise approved, all grants will be disbursed quarterly upon receipt of a report detailing the progress of a project funded by VVAF. VVAF will forward funds to the treasurer or administrator of the grant or as indicated in the grant proposal.
- Recipients of VVAF grants may be required to submit periodic reports detailing all activities related to the grant. The number of reports and their due dates will be outlined in the grant award letter. Failure to file reports in a timely manner may result in forfeiture of the remaining grant.
- VVAF also reserves the right to visit, and/or review and monitor all activities related to the management and operation of the grant.
- Any and all issues relating to the VVA Service Representative program are administered through and by the VVA National office. Requests for support of Service Representatives should be sent to VVA.
- VVAF considers all complete proposals. In general, however, VVAF does not typically fund: memorial projects, administrative expenses, attending meetings, and building projects.
APPLICANTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETENESS AND ACCURACY OF THEIR SUBMISSION. INCOMPLETE PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
