Boerstler

John Boerstler was born in Missouri City, Texas, into a family with a strong history of military service. In 1999, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman, where he eventually earned the rank of Sergeant. During his time serving our country, John's overseas assignments took him to Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, Jordan, Djibouti, and Kenya.

As a non-commissioned officer, John served a combat tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004-2005. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps in 2007 and went on to complete his bachelor's degree at Texas A&M University. John is now pursuing a master's degree from the University of Houston and recently join 43 other young professionals in Europe as a Marshall Memorial Fellow in June 2011.

Today, John has become a strong advocate for veterans, after working for a United States Congressman and for two Mayors of Houston. Now, John is continuing his career in public service working as a manager in the Wounded Warrior Project and as president of the Lone Star Veterans Association in Houston.
